The 211 Helpline Center began offering resources and support in South Dakota in 2001 and as of July 1 is now accessible to all South Dakota residents. Each and every day, the compassionate and committed 211 Helpline Center staff provides help and support to people in our communities. Sometimes, the support is an answer to a simple question like, “how can I get registered to vote?”, or “where can I volunteer?”. Other times our calls are more complex, “I just lost my job and can’t afford my rent, is there anywhere I can get help?” or “I have a friend who is depressed, how can I help him?”.
No matter how simple or complex, the 211 Helpline Center staff is here for our community, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. With more than 5,000 programs and agencies in its database, 211 makes it quick and easy to connect individuals to the resources they need, when they need them the most. Simply call 211, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and you will speak to a professional trained support specialist. Their specialists are also standing by to answer text messages if you simply text your zip code to 898211, or you can email them at firstname.lastname@example.org. You are not alone. Every day people turn to 211 for information and support – whether financial, family, health, or disaster-related. Your call or text is free and confidential.
