The Day of Champions service event places NSU Wolves student-athletes with organizations in the Aberdeen community and surrounding areas, volunteering their time with various projects. Since its inception, volunteers have put in over 21,000 hours of labor – painting, cleaning, organizing, raking, planting, shoveling, washing, hauling, repairing, etc. at locations all over the region. Our volunteers’ hard work pays off – literally. Over $369,000 worth of labor has been donated so our community agencies can spend more time and money on their missions.

“This is a day our agencies look forward to each year. The amount of work that the NSU student-athletes can accomplish is simply amazing,” notes Aaron Schultz, Executive Director of UWNESD. “The education for these student-athletes goes well beyond the classroom. Each year athletic coaches, staff, and the Athletic Director stress the importance of giving back to our community. Simply put, this is a win-win for everyone involved.”

A big thank you goes to the Aberdeen Sertoma Club, Eide Bailly, Jimmy John’s, Twist Cone, and Target of Aberdeen who sponsored food and supplies for the athletes on the day of the event. Thanks to 3M, Dacotah Bank, NSU Foundation, and QQP for sponsoring t-shirts for the volunteers.
