YAPA (Youth Adult Partnership Of Aberdeen) - United Way of Northeastern South Dakota

The YAPAtorium is Aberdeen’s only student-lead, adult-supported youth center for middle and high school students. Since 2005, the mission of YAPA (Youth-Adult Partnership of Aberdeen) is to work in cooperation with the City of Aberdeen Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department to research, develop, and maintain a free youth center for young people to congregate for relaxation, entertainment, arts, and learning. YAPA exists to provide area youth with a safe haven of acceptance and freedom to be who they are while engaging in fun activities. YAPA is a strong proponent of substance-free living and encourage youth to take ownership of their public spaces and be a positive influence within their community.

Membership/Activities

Youth, ages 11-17, are eligible for a free membership to the YAPAtorium youth center. With a membership, youth have access to our facility and all of our equipment, which range from PlayStations and PCs to Pianos and Paintbrushes. YAPA also frequently hosts free youth focused events like holiday parties, concerts, and gaming tournaments, to name only a few. Members have access to all these events and activities free of charge. Educational Programming

YAPA’s weekly programming includes homework help, art instruction, pool and e-sports leagues, writing clubs, skate park sessions, and open mic. In addition to these programs, YAPA continuously updates its program schedule with new programs based on current members’ desires. If you have a program idea, let YAPA help you make it a reality.
