About East River Legal Services

East River Legal Services (ERLS) exists to better the lives of the over 52,000 people living in poverty in eastern South Dakota. We offer free civil legal services to our communities Veterans, older Americans (60+), people with disabilities, victims of violence, and all those facing financial insecurity. Beyond legal services, we also have staff work in conjunction with our legal team to support clients social needs while they have an open case; this would include assistance with housing, SNAP benefits, child care assistance, counseling, and many others. ERLS takes a holistic approach to helping our clients and achieving the best outcomes possible.
