Aaron began as United Way Director in January 2014. Prior to United Way, Aaron taught in the Social Sciences at Presentation College, starting in 2006. Aaron is an Aberdeen native and an Aberdeen Central graduate and earned his college degrees at the University of South Dakota with a B.S. in Criminal Justice and a M.A. in Rural Sociology. Aaron began his professional career as the Community Impact Director for the Sioux Empire United Way in Sioux Falls, SD before moving to Washington D.C. to work as a Research Officer for First Nations Development Institute. Aaron moved back to Aberdeen in the summer of 2006. Aaron and his wife, Jaela, make their home in Aberdeen with two sons, Samuel and Turner.
Communications and Impact Coordinator
Angie Cleberg has a diverse background in administration, ranging from corporate, to academic, to non-profit. She and her husband founded the Fallout Creative Community, a non-profit that builds a strong, inclusive community through the arts. Angie’s passion for collaborations, diversity, and community, combined with a love for spreadsheets and data, has found in United Way, a perfect infrastructure to blend her interests and use her strengths for the good of our region. Angie and her spouse Dan, owner of the Red Rooster Coffeehouse, live in Aberdeen with their one child, Caelus.
Campaign Associate
Rita started at the United Way in June 2022. She graduated from Northern State University with a B.S. in Sociology, focusing on Human Services. Rita has various professional experiences in Finance, Hospitality, Public Relations, and Customer Service. Prior to United Way, Rita was the Finance and Visitors Relations Manager for the Aberdeen Area Convention and Visitors Bureau. She is a South Dakota native and has lived in Aberdeen since college. Rita and her husband Mike have three children: Evie, Mason, and Pierce; and a Shorkie named Luna.
